Local Reads: Your Preschooler's Summer Reading List, Part One
July 14, 2009
It's Tuesday, and that means it's List Day here at Savvy Source. For today's List, in honor of summer, reading locally and keeping you and your preschoolers occupied indoors to escape the 100+ degree temps, I have compiled a list of books written for preschoolers by members of the Austin Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I found a dozen books, so today I'll introduce you to the first six, along with their descriptions (written by reviewers or publishers):

We LOVE the library. Although, much to my chagrin, my son has no interest in actually sitting through a storytime , library books are like gold. Seriously, it's like Christmas around here when I come home with new books. Wikipedia 's not much help when it comes to communicating with the diapered set. Imagine: "Johanna dear, Halloween is coming Read more...
Twosome time! best buddy board books
September 23, 2008
One of the cutest things about the terrible two's is the budding friendships that emerge when your toddler finally realizes there are other people in the world. Little people, just like her, with similar passions and an equally limited vocabulary. What else does one need to relate? Johanna has a best friend. Happily, it's a function of both geography and common interest. In other words, Lena's Read more...
Book Nooks for Tots: Best Story Times and Reading Rooms
May 13, 2008
Sure, you can read to your child 'till you're blue in the face (and you should!) but every once in awhile it's nice to sit back and let the professionals take a crack at it. Not to mention it's a fun way to discover books you might not have otherwise, and there's something to be said for your child observing and learning from the storytelling nuances of as many adults as possible (assuming said Read more...
