Out and About in Austin, 2/6-2/8

Starting this week, I will be bringing some local events to your attention in the hopes of encouraging you to enjoy Austin with your family and friends. Have fun!
FRIDAY THE 6TH
- At 10:15, the Oak Springs Branch of the Austin Public Library will host Literature LIVE! in a puppet show adaptation of a humorous African folktale "Anansi and the Moss Colored Rock".
SATURDAY THE 7TH
- At 9:00, shop til you drop at the Austin Farmers' Market at Republic Square Park (4th & Guadalupe), the South Austin Farmers' Market at 2910 South Congress, and the Sunset Valley Farmers' Market
- At 10:00, Capital Metro will host an Open House at its Leander Station to offer the public a chance to see the new MetroRail trains, Ruta Maya will host Family Yoga , and the Scottish Rite Theater will present an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood
- At 11:00, Lakeshore Learning helps your little one create a Love Bug
- At 11:30, BookPeople and Abrakadoodle present a storytime and craft based on the classic The Snowy Day by Jack Ezra Keats
- At 1:00, Little Lounge Lizards is hosting a Valentine's Celebration for kids 10 and under and their parents at Qua downtown and the Wells Branch library is celebrating the Year of the Ox with the Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team
- At 2:00, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum has its TEXplorations storytime about Texas Heroes
SUNDAY THE 8TH
- At 10:30 at Ruya Maya Coffeehouse, see puppet shows from Natasha La Gitana
- At noon at the Austin Children's Museum, Science Sunday celebrates Black History Month and celebrate Darwin's 200th birthday at the Texas Memorial Museum
- At 2:00 the Lady Longhorn Basketball team plays Texas Tech and the Scottish Rite Theater will again present an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood
